Martin is an Economics graduate and a Chartered accountant of 20 years standing having qualified with a small local firm in Ipswich.
After his 3 years in practice, Martin was headhunted by a client to work for a small computer company, which he subsequently helped sell on to a competitor. Following spells in Philips and Blue Circle, Martin moved back to the small company environment joining Pi Group as CFO where he helped grow the company from £8m to £25m turnover, organically in the motor racing arena, by expansion into mainstream automotive markets and by acquisition. With the CEO he then negotiated the sale of the business to Ford Motor Company. Under the Ford ownership he was transferred to take charge of the finances of Cosworth Racing, a loss making part of Ford’s motor racing activities which he helped turn around and sell off to private investors.
Most recently, Martin has been working for Liquavista, a Venture backed spin out from Philips. Martin helped grow the company from 11 to 60 people and he supervised the set up of the accounting systems, the move to a purpose designed facility in Eindhoven and the set up of a subsidiary in Hong Kong with a production facility in Southern China.
